Its base game, Age of Mythology: Retold is about commanding legendary monsters and calling upon gods to defeat the enemies. It offers a wide variety of gods, from Greek, Norse, Egyptian, and Atlantean pantheons to the Nidhogg dragon and Dyrads. Here, players can embark on a journey with multiple campaigns, specifically, 50 missions they need to accomplish as they explore a vast mythical world.
In Age of Mythology: Retold - Immortal Pillars, players can summon 12 new Gods and Goddesses including, Nüwa, the creator goddess; control Chiyou, a bull-headed God of chaos and war, call upon Nüba, the drought goddess; Fuxi, master of civilization; Shennong, deity of farming and medicine; Gonggong, God of floods and rebellion; Zhurong, God of summer and fire; Houtu, earth goddess; Goumang, God of spring; Rushou, God of gold and autumn; Huangdi, ruler and inventor god; and Xuannü, Goddess of wisdom and military strategy.
Additionally, this expansion focuses on the China-focused Tale of the Dragon, which wasn’t offered in the original Age of Mythology. With new deities that players can encounter in this DLC, they can have a lot of options of who the goddesses they want to summon are as they play the game. However, as the game focuses on gods and goddesses, it lacks character development features.
